It has been proven that religion causes brain damage in developing children by pushing such notions as torture and hell upon them at an early age. In fact children brought up in extremist Christian or Islamic households have a 17% higher chance of being mentally retarded in some way shape or form by the time they reach puberty compared to one brought up in a largely non-religous family.
This verifies previous research that foreigners, particularly those of Middle Eastern decent, have a higher chance of committing acts of violence compared to those who have been born and raised in a largely non-religious environment.
Many child psychology experts agree that when being brought up Children who are exposed to violence or threats will develop survival skills. When placed in modern civilization they tend to react violent, trying to survive in a world that isn't out to get them making them very much out of place. Where does all the extra energy go? Murder, drug dealing, clubbing, excess partying amongst many other things.
Child psychologists as such agree that forcing religion upon developing children causes them some form of brain damage or mental retardation as they don't learn to learn but learn to survive. Survive against the devil and hell, against mysterious sexual desires amongst other things. The world isn't like that, they don't find themselves exposed to a real, godless upbringing, so they never have that chance to understand what it's like to not be afraid and live life to the fullest.
It could even be that mentally retarded people, or those who receive a shock to the brain turn religious. Clearly there is a relation between brain damage/retardation and religion. What the church doesn't want you to know is the thousands of people they take in who are homeless have brain problems caused by their devotion to a mythical entity. It gets better, there have been many documented instances of followers of a certain religion going mad and the church subsequently cover it up.
There should be laws passed preventing children from being forced to be given a religious upbringing. Why are there laws that prevent adults having sex with children but no laws preventing religion being forced down children's throats at such a tender age? Perhaps even forcing sex upon a child will damage them less than if they are forced to believe they will burn for eternity in hell. Children are the responsibility of decency, not necessarily parents because they could be pedophiles or worse yet, crazy religious whack jobs.
